Canada's 1st & Largest Comedy Benefit Concert
In Support of Mental Health Wellness
"Helping Our Mental Health Community
Help Themselves Through
LAUGHTER, COMEDY & COURAGE"
HOW DOES
"COMEDY COURAGE"
WORK?
Comedy Courage is a 12 week course where in a safe,
supportive environment people with mental health issues recovering from
depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other mental health
diagnoses to
build confidence, self-esteem, and social skills by developing a three to
ten minute stand-up comedy routine about their mental health journey to
wellness. At the end of the course they perform in two showcases.
Once the course is over they continue to perform as a group at mental
health conferences, treatment facilities, mental health clubhouses, and
for the general public. Not only will the course benefit the individuals,
but also mental health consumers in general by giving them a voice,
providing positive role models to other consumers, and removing the stigma
of what it means to have a mental health diagnoses.
Comedy Courage is firmly committed to the belief that laughter and humor
are powerful ways to cope with adversity, and we want to bring that
message to mental health consumers and the general public.
